Introduction
Concrete batching plants, which are also commonly known at batch plants combines different types of materials to form concrete. Materials such as sand, aggregate (rocks, gravel, etc), fly ash, potash and water are some examples. There are also two types of concrete batching plants: dry mix plants and wet mix plants.
Types of Concrete Batching Plants
A dry mix plant combines all the materials except for water. This is done once the mixture is loaded into a concrete transport truck (also known as a ready mix truck). During transport to the job site water is added to the mixture to create the final product.
On the other hand there is the wet mix plant. The main difference is that all of the above materials, including water, are combined at a central location. This inturn offers a much more consistent product, due to the fact that all the materials are mixed in a central location where a computer can be used to endure consistency of the product. The wet mix is then transported to the job site.
Basic Parts within this Machine
Within a concrete batching plant there are also many parts and accessories. It is because of these parts that the plants are able to produce so much concrete at such a fast rate. These may include, and certainly not limited to:
Mixers (either tilt-up or horizontal or in some cases both)
Aggregate batchers
Cement batchers
Radial stackers
Conveyors
Cement bins
Aggregate bins
Chillers and heaters
Cement silos
Dust collectors
Batch plant controls
Batch computer
The mixer, which is at the centre of a concrete batching plant, has the option of three types of mixers. These include tilt, pan and also a twin shaft mixer. They all have their advantages. For example the twin shaft mixer can ensure an even mixture of concrete and a large output, whereas the tilt mixer can offer a consistent mixture with much less maintenance, labour and cost.
Conclusion
This is a concrete batching plant at a glance. These machines are the easiest way to currently make a mass amount of concrete in the shortest amount of time. They are used all over the world, generally in construction sites and also mines. It can be said that the world would not be the same without concrete batching plants as concrete is one of the worlds main building materials. And as the same as everything else in this world they are always evolving and coming up with new ways to improve this machine.
